So, I finally got the thumbnails for the rest of chapter 1 straightened out, and it seems I jumped the gun a little. There's another 9 pages or so, which means another 4+ weeks until the chapter's over. See, the pages coming next aren't part of the original brainstorm I had a year ago. They're a little bit of extra context to set the stage for the "present day" which starts in chapter 2. I'm also planning to refine my style a little by then. I want to improve the boldness of my lines, and go to a more cell-shaded sort of style. Considering my love of airbrushing, this might not last very long, but we'll see.
So, with chapter 1 wrapping up shortly, I have a huge request to all you readers (ah, mainly just my friends at this point, I guess). Anyone up for some fanart? Yeah, that's right. I'm asking for a little fanart filler. I'm going to be doing designs on some new characters and testing out a little different inking/ toning style, breaking into the present-day stuff in the storyline. So I'll likely miss a few updates. I figure it's a good chance to feature everyone else :)
Anyone up for it? <3 you can email me at plotholetsi (at) gmail.com
The last 2.5 days at work were DEAD boring. Seriously. DEAD. There was NOTHING to do! So I ended up doing the lettering for the comic at work, and even some of the flat toning and texturizing (I wouldn't dare try and do shadows without a tablet these days). But I still ended up missing deadlines because of a sorority meeting and general lazyness. I enjoy working on the comic during my breaks at work, but I have a harder time focusing on it at home recently. Probably because of the stress. But there's three more updates loaded into the auto-update system. They're there. You just have to wait for them! HA!
FINALLY put together the comic bag I've been meaning to for a few months now. Even if I drop the comic TOMORROW, I think this will still be one of the most useful bags I've ever constructed. It's like triple-reinforced all over, too! Mwahaha.
Here's a link to it on DA
Okay I'm a drama queen. There's a monday update for certain, and I'm currently going gung-ho to pencil the rest of this chapter.
That's RIGHT! The END! This chapter will be somewhere between 26 and 30 or so pages, depending on whether I stick a few pages in as the END of this chapter, or the BEGINNING of the next one.
E gads! I better make this chapter longer, then, I just realized that I don't have a chapter 2 cover image ready yet! D: oh noes!
So... I dropped the ball hard didn't I? No comic update, no filler. No nothing. Adn I can't say I was doing anything too important. I was playing some fable-II and I tried my hand at baking girl scout cookies (cause it's two years in a row now we've missed them at the grocery stores, what gives?) Well the cookies came out sort of so-so. The thin mints are okay but they're chewy, not melt-in-your-mouth, y'know?
Alright alright anyway you don't care about my cookies. I'll try and get an update up soon, but I hate to say that things are just busy. I've got a lot of stress at work and I still need to finish an art piece for James and that necklace for Ray & Tanya (assuming the last components come in. Any day guys, where're the sparklies I ordered?)
So that's what's going on right now. *sigh*
I have a possibility of as much as 20 hours of overtime this week. I blame it on Direct TV and the exhibit House's inability to PLAN. This seems to be a trait of many of our customers. *sigh*
So.... went to Jean's house yesterday to try and get this facetting machine up and running. Sat around watching Vicky do awesome things with a wire brush and a screwdriver, but didn't do much myself. Some Tylenol PM knocked me out when I was just trying to cure a headache, however. That killed Saturday, and my husband's birthday really killed Sunday. Even with the 4-5 hours I had to myself, I seem to have left the crucial few pages of my notes/script for the comic at work, so I couldn't complete it even if I wasn't having a weird spazz/depression/anger attack for most of the day. So I'm very VERY sorry, but it just didn't get done. I have the lineart, and I'll be putting the ink and stuff together ASAP, I promise! But at this rate, this Monday's update might just be a bust. See you by Thursday, at the latest. Sorry everybody.
If you saw a lineart version of this comic this morning, my bad. I actually had it done Tuesday night, but seem to have forgotten to upload the final toned version ^^; gomen'ne!
I can't seem to get more than barely caught up with my comic updates. I don't know why, I just seem to go through time frames where I can't get into that niche in my brain that lets me complete the pages WELL, and FAST. Despite going to see my parents tomorrow and baking cookies and stuff, I might have time to get the toning on page 16 done. If not, you get a black and white page. Granted, there's some very nice ink work on that page (if I may gloat a little...)
It has been a very crazy week. Not for any reason that I can accurately describe, but many small factors. We had a constant roller-coaster ride of frantic overtime and complete boredom, and this was just after I returned from a few days in Michigan. Not to mention the 3-hour time difference in each direction. We narrowly avoided having to print all day Saturday and Sunday at the whim of the all-mighty Todd *makes a rude gesture* because of stupid customers in China. Yes, China. Long story. So I fixed page 13, and I have the line-art for 14 and 15. I'm trying to get back up to speed everyone, bear with me. And yes I know that I don't really have enough of a reader base to be concerned about grumpy readers yet. Heh.
So if you're reading this, then I'm on a Plane on my way to Michigan. Correct that, on a plane on my was to Illinois. We have to go through O'Hare before getting to Detroit. The tickets were 100$ cheaper and only added an hour and a half.
Oh, but the real purpose of this news post: I'll be a little behind on comics because of this. I'll try to catch up, but there might be a filler day or two in the upcoming week.
So I've been fussing around with the tablet this past evening (all the way in to 2am, yikes!) and I think I'm going to make a bunch of little portrait images with different emotions kinda like was Least I Could Do does.
So I'm trying out the image-selection feature on the News module. If this is working correctly you should see an annoyed little face to the left, and there should e a small width of space between that image and the edge of this text.
